The "We Are Humans, Not Algorithms"
Refund Policy

Because we trade in intellectual property and time—two things we can’t get back once we’ve given them to you—our refund policy is simple:

  • Respect the Hustle: If you book us, send us your messy receipts, and we start working our magic, the meter is running. We don’t offer refunds on labor that has already been performed. You are paying for our brainpower, and our brains are premium real estate.

  • No Robots Here: Unlike software that processes data instantly, we process strategy thoughtfully. If you decide to cancel before we touch your file, you get a full refund. If you ghost us after we’ve done the heavy lifting, the fee stands.

  • The "Expertise" Clause: We promise to do excellent, accurate work. However, we do not offer refunds simply because the IRS didn’t give you the number you were hoping for. We are tax wizards, not magicians.

At Sage Abacus, your taxes aren’t being crunched by a cold, unfeeling server farm. They are being crafted by real, caffeinated human experts who have spent years mastering the terrifying complexity of the tax code so you don't have to.

Tax Preparation Services

Because tax preparation involves professional labor and intellectual property, refunds are subject to the stage of work completed.

Before Work Begins: If you cancel your engagement after payment but before we have begun processing your documents or starting your return, you are eligible for a 100% refund of the fee paid.

Work In Progress (WIP): If you choose to discontinue services after we have received your documents and begun work, but before the return is finalized or filed, you will be billed for the hours worked up to that point at our standard hourly rate of $100/hr. Any remaining balance from your retainer will be refunded. If the work performed exceeds the retainer, no refund will be issued.

After Filing or Delivery: Once a tax return has been filed (e-filed or paper filed) or the final draft has been delivered to you for review, no refunds will be granted. The fee covers the time and expertise used to prepare the return, which is a service that cannot be un-rendered.

Rejection or Audits: A rejection by the IRS or state tax authority does not invalidate the service provided and does not qualify for a refund. However, we will work with you to correct and resubmit any rejected return due to preparation errors at no additional cost.

Annual Memberships/Courses:

Within 30 Days: If you cancel an annual membership within 30 days of purchase or renewal, you are eligible for a full refund, provided no substantial services (e.g., a tax consultation, membership and course) were utilized during that window.

After 30 Days: No refunds will be issued. Service will continue until the end of the current annual term.

Accuracy Guarantee

While we do not refund preparation fees post-filing, we stand by our work.

Our Error: If a mathematical or data-entry error is made by Sage Abacus that results in penalties or interest from a tax authority, we will reimburse you for those penalties and interest (up to the amount of your preparation fee). You remain responsible for any additional taxes owed.

Client Information: We are not responsible for errors resulting from incorrect, incomplete, or late information provided by the client.
