Simple math mistakes or missing forms (like W-2s) will cause the IRS to manually review your return, slowing down the process. The IRS may also send a letter asking you to verify your identity to prevent tax fraud before they release your refund. Check your refund status weekly on the official IRS site for any updates. If your tax filing status is set at Processing, be patient. Sage Abacus does not have access to speed up the process.

Be cautious of any communication claiming to be the IRS. The IRS will never initiate contact with you via call, text or email. They will typically contact you the first time by mail delivered by the U.S. Postal Service. To verify it’s the IRS, search IRS notices and letters. Protect yourself. Be aware of current scams.
